Visakha Bucha Day – Meaning and Significance
Visakha Bucha Day is the full‑moon day of the sixth lunar month. It commemorates three extraordinary events in the life of the Buddha, all of which occurred on the same day: • His birth • His enlightenment • His passing into Parinibbāna
Because these three miraculous events coincide on this single full‑moon day, Visakha Bucha is recognized as one of the most important days in Buddhism. The United Nations has also designated it as an international observance known as Visak Day.
